The
Village of Kinderhook Planning Board is working with
Community Planning & Environmental Associates of
Berne, New York, to review and update the Village’s
Comprehensive Plan, adopted in 1999. A public
meeting was held on April 26th and a focus group
with Village businesses and members of the KBPA was
held June 13th to evaluate the economic needs of the
Village. Resident and business surveys will be
distributed this summer to gather further input
about the issues and concerns that the community
would like to have reflected in the planning
document.
New York State law
authorizes communities to prepare a comprehensive
plan that identifies goals, objectives, and
strategies for growth and development. The State
Legislature has further strengthened the role of the
comprehensive plan by requiring that zoning laws
conform to goals set forth in the plan. The State
recommends review every five years, and Kinderhook
is one of the first local communities to commence a
review |
