Planning Board

The Village Planning Board meets at 7:30pm
on the 1st Thursday of every month.

The Village of Kinderhook Planning Board is working with Community Planning & Environmental Associates of Berne, New York, to review and update the Village’s Comprehensive Plan, adopted in 1999. A public meeting was held on April 26th and a focus group with Village businesses and members of the KBPA was held June 13th to evaluate the economic needs of the Village. Resident and business surveys will be distributed this summer to gather further input about the issues and concerns that the community would like to have reflected in the planning document.

New York State law authorizes communities to prepare a comprehensive plan that identifies goals, objectives, and strategies for growth and development. The State Legislature has further strengthened the role of the comprehensive plan by requiring that zoning laws conform to goals set forth in the plan. The State recommends review every five years, and Kinderhook is one of the first local communities to commence a review
