GARBAGE REMINDERS
Garbage pickup for weeks containing holidays may be on Friday, Ex: The week
of Thanksgiving will be on Friday, November 25, 2011. Garbage pick up may
also be delayed in the event of major snowstorms this winter. If this should
happen, we will post a notice on the Village website at
http://village.kinderhookny.us/
as soon as we are notified.
Both papers and containers will be picked up every Thursday. Please have
garbage and recyclables out by 7:00 A.M. to ensure pickup. Pick- up times do
vary by street week to week, so please ensure your garbage is out by 7:00
am. We cannot guarantee pick –up for items placed on the curb after 7:00 am.
All bags of garbage must have stickers – red stickers ($2.50) for 30 gal.
bags and green stickers ($1.50) for 15 gal. bags. When placing your
recyclable containers at the curb, please be sure to place them as indicated
by the arrows on top of the container to allow for automated pick –up . Oil
& antifreeze containers may not be recycled.
If you have questions, please contact the Village Hall. Garbage stickers may
be obtained at the Village Office during business hours of 9:00 AM to 1:00
PM, Monday through Friday, and on Wednesday evenings from 5:00-7:00 PM.
Garbage stickers are also available at Kinderhook Stewart’s.

FARM ACCEPTS KINDERHOOK'S YARD
WASTE
The Town of Kinderhook lawn and garden waste disposal site, Valley View
Farm, remains open and will close for the season after the first snowfall.
The farm in located at 2560 Route 203, between Merwin and McCagg Roads.
Compostable waste will be accepted every Saturday between 8:00 AM and 2:00
PM.
There is a permit fee of $50.00, which can be purchased at the Town of
Kinderhook Hall.

On October 15th CCHS joins the KBPA in hosting the OK Fall Fest and the
Family Civil War Music and Dance Festival on the grounds of the Vanderpoel
House. Fall farmers market, pumpkin painting, scarecrow making, family
games, musical performances by Ampersand, the Chatham Coronet Band, and the
77th Balladeers and dance sets. Barbeque available from Georgia Rays!
Civil War Sit & Knit with a special children’s program for knitters with
families October 29, 12:30-2, Vanderpoel House
Join CCHS November 25-27 for the Gallery of Wreaths and Gingerbread House
Spectacular at the Vanderpoel House. Call CCHS for your entry forms for the
gallery of wreaths and the gingerbread house competition (forms are on our
website too!).
The Holiday Shop will be open at the Vanderpoel House of History December
9-11 & 16-18 with a special preview night on December 8th.

Fire
Company Seeks Volunteers
If you are at least 18 years of age, a resident of the fire district or
work in the Village and are interested in serving as a volunteer, please
contact Fire Chief Peter Hunter at 758-7050, Trustee, Rich Phillips 758-9548
or any member of the Palmer Engine and Hose Company. In addition, the Palmer
Engine and Hose Company Ladies Auxiliary are seeking members. Ladies
interested should contact Auxiliary President Dottie Masten at 758-7164.

Fire
Company Fundraiser –
The Kinderhook Fire Company will be hosting
the Columbia County Volunteer Firefighters Association in July, 2014 (for
the first time in 30 years). The Fire Department is accepting donations or
fundraising tickets can be purchased from Pete Hunter.
